Lawnell Hallman

COLUMBUS — Lawnell Hallman, 72, died Nov. 17, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Maranatha Faith Center, with Kurus Jamison officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hallman was born Sept. 1, 1953, in Lowndes County, to the late Charlie Hallman and Mable Hallman. He was formerly employed at Bo’s Auto Service in Rainville, Alabama, Cox Auto Services, Columbus Hyundai and as owner of Lawnell’s Auto Repairs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ora Lee Petty, Rosie Mae Ervin, J.D. Richardson and Robert L. Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Williams Hallman; children, Keith Jethrow of Memphis, Tennessee, Derico Howard of Columbus, Crystal Howard of El Paso, Texas, Jennifer “Jan” Cheeks of Douglasville, Georgia, and Lenell Watts of Columbus; siblings, Martha Harris, Jewel D. Jones, Johnny R. Hallman, Charles D. Hallman, all of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Willie Cockrell, Larry Petty, Ricky Knox, Wade DeLoach, Peter Jones and Joe Lee Howard.
