CRAWFORD — Lamar Samuels, 68, died Sept. 8, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church, with Bobby McCarter officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12-5 p.m. Friday, at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Samuels was born Feb. 9, 1957, in Crawford, to Willie Baptist and Mary Samuels Calmes. He attended Motley High School and was formerly employed as a farmer. He was a member of Oakland M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Benny Baptist, Larry Baptist, Walter Baptist and Willie Baptist.
He is survived by his sons, Tyshon Rogers of Crawford and Lamar Harrell of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Skina Harrell Fleming of Columbus, Latoya Samuels Moore of Stockbridge, Georgia, Khenech Bridges Cain of Hornlake and Dorothy Ross of Columbus; brothers, Willie “Neal” Samuels of Kankakee, Illinois, Billy Ray Samuels, Jefferson Baptist, Carl Baptist, Michael Baptist and Terry Baptist, all of Crawford; sisters, Mary Shepherd of Kankakee, Shirley Moton of Columbus, Fay Carol Scott of Mablewood, Montana, Annie Clayborne, Mary Bradford, both of Starkville, Michelle Adams, Sadie Baptist, both of Columbus and Linda Underwood of Vance, Alabama; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carl Baptist, Terry Baptist, William Williams, Quincy Williams, Edward Johnson and Jermain Stewart Jr.
