VERNON, Ala. — Kenneth Lane Hattaway, 78, died Oct. 3, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday, at First Baptist Church of Vernon, with Mark Presswood officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hattaway was born Oct. 21, 1946, in Fayette, to the late Alvin and Mildred Bennet Hattaway. 

He was a 1965 high school graduate and attended North West Alabama College. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was formerly employed in the paper delivery and grocery store industries, with Thomas Trucking Company, the family electrical construction company, Hattaway Brothers Company, and as a plant engineer and project manager with Hyster Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hattaway; children, Stacey Perkins, Jeffery Hattaway and Jason Hattaway; brothers, Banks Hattaway and Terrell Hattaway; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Justin Perkins, Micah Carter, Tommy Dale McClendon, Jerry Otts, James Hollis, Phillip Crossley, Dudley Barton and Ron Mills.
