Kay Todd
Date of notice: July 30, 2025
Kay Arnett Todd passed peacefully to her eternal home on July 28, 2025. Kay was born on October 22, 1954, to George Lamar and Eunice Marie Arnett in Louisville, Mississippi. Kay graduated early from Louisville High School in 1971 and attended Mississippi State University. Through mutual friends, she met the love of her life, Donny Burkes Todd, also a Louisville native, and they married on November 4, 1972, at Kay’s beloved home church, Poplar Flat Baptist Church.
Kay was a devloted and loving wife to Donny for 52 years. She was always by his side as they pursued their shared passions of worshipping and serving in the church and cheering on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Kay served many years in various church roles at both Poplar Flat and South Louisville Baptist. She loved leading the children’s choir and teaching Sunday school and led many a committee in both congregations. She retired from Taylor Machine Works in 2017, where she worked an as Accounting Clerk for over 20 years.
We are confident that Kay is rejoicing in heaven to be reunited with her beloved Donny who preceded her in death by mere months. Together they raised two strong independent daughters of whom Kay was most proud. She leaves behind her “girls”, Dr. Misty Sharp (Jason) of Columbus, Mississippi, and Ginger Gorman (Shane) of Madison, Mississippi. As proud as she was of her daughters, the apples of her eye were her five precious grandsons, Todd and Parker Sharp and Griffin, Grant, and Tanner Gorman. Additional survivors include her siblings, Dr. William Arnett (Delores) of Madison, Wayne Arnett of Brandon, and Carolyn Varner (Robert) of Madison and her siblings- in-law, Bobby Todd (the late Jo Helen) of Louisville, Karey Todd and Cindy Todd, both of Philadelphia. Kay also leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.
In addition to Donny, Kay is also preceded in death by her parents, George and Marie Arnett, her infant brother George Lamar, Jr., and her sister-in-law Jo Helen Todd.
Misty and Ginger would like to thank the staff of Trinity Healthcare Center and Legacy Hospice for their compassionate care. We are especially grateful to her wonderful hospice nurse and our dear friend, Amy Williams, for going above and beyond in her care of Kay and all of us. Her daughters are also exceptionally grateful to her life-long dearest devoted friend, Kathy Gookin, who was a faithful companion until the very end.
