CREWS, Ala. — Jon Richard Basel Mixon, 85, died Aug. 23, 2025.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with Steven Sanderson and Jeff Chaffin officiating. Burial will follow at Sulligent Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mixon was born Nov. 25, 1939, to the late Will and Hattie Mixon. He was a 1958 graduate of Sulligent High School and a 1981 graduate of Newport University. He was a veteran of the Alabama Army National Guard and was formerly employed with the Alabama Highway Department and in the finance industry. He was a co-founder and served as president of First State Bank and was a member of First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rye Mixon; children, Kyle Mixon of Bremen, and Amy Morgan of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; brother, Billy Ray Mixon of Birmingham; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Mixon Jr., Andrew Morgan, Brandon Wencil, David Wencil, Tyler Poschel and Danny Otts.
