CRAWFORD — Johnny J. “J.J.” “Big John”, 72, died Nov. 18, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. James M.B. Church, with the Rev. Marketer Ash officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Evans was born April 5, 1953, in Crawford, to the late Charles Lee Evans and Lillie D. Jones Evans. He attended Westview High School and was formerly employed with 7UP and Winn Dixie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Lowery; and siblings, Lee Bernard Jones, Charlie Bell Evans Jr., Char Lee Evans and Janice Evans.

He is survived by his children, Charnell Evans of Pflugerville, Texas, Coy Estes of San Antonio, Takisha Wynne, Cornell Evans and Vince Evans, all of Fort Worth, and Amanda Evans of St. Louis, Missouri; siblings, Faye Coleman of Birmingham, Alabama, JoAnne Evans of Covington, Georgia, Vanessa Outlaw of Starkville, and Carl Bush of Artesia; and 18 grandchildren.
