John Peters Sr.

MACON — MSgt. John R. Peters Sr., 94, died Sept. 24, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Macon. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mashulaville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.
MSgt. Peters was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Macon, to the late Frank Roberts and Ina “Nee Stewart) Peters. He was a graduate of Shuqualak High School and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was also a veteran of the Air National Guard, serving with the 186th Air National Guard in Meridian. He was owner and operator of Peters Brothers Service Station and served as Zoning Commissioner for the City of Macon. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Peters; and siblings, Clyde Shearer, Freddie Peters, Hallie Moore, Frank Perry Peters, James R. Peters and Charles Peters.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Peters of Columbus; brother, George Peters; and two grandchildren.
