SULLIGENT, Ala. — John Gilbert McCollum, 90, died Jan. 13, 2026, at his residence.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Otts Funeral Home, with Sheila Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at Lann Cemetery in Splunge. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McCollum was born May 16, 1935, in Tupelo, to the late Gilbert and Sarah McCollum. He was formerly employed in the farming industry in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a maintenance man with Walker Manufacturing in Aberdeen, and as a mechanic of tractors and farming equipment with International Harvester.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie McCollum; children, George Gilbert, Jerry G., Judy Kay Howell and Lois Ann Kennedy; and one grandchild.

He is survived by his children, Johnny Lee McCollum of Franklin, Kentucky, Billy Joe McCollum and Margaret Carol Vaughan, both of Amory, and Linda Gail Isbell of Greenwood Springs; siblings, Patricia Little of Hamilton and Jim McCollum of Surprise, Arizona;18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Eric Ling, Justin Ling, Colby Ling, Daniel McCollum, Brian McCollum and Casey McCollum.
