STARKVILLE – John L. Jefferson, 48, died March 19, 2026, at UMMC Hospital in Jackson. 

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Memorial Gardens Park Cemetery, with Jerry Jefferson officiating. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Jefferson was born May 25, 1977, in Starkville, to Elnora Jefferson Jones and the late John Edward Jefferson.  He was a graduate of Starkville High School and was formerly employed as a brick mason. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancé, Jasmine Pledge of Louisville; daughter, Chloe Jefferson of Starkville; and sisters, Rhondaa Gandy-Harris of Starkville and Shayla Jefferson-Brown of Southaven.
