SULLIGENT, Ala. — John D. Allen, 87, died Jan. 5, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with David Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allen was born Aug. 7, 1938, in Vernon, to the late Redden Allen and Ollie Mae Humbers Allen. He attended Molloy School and was formerly employed with Marathon and as owner and operator of Allen’s Country Store.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Joyce Allen; daughter, Judy Gadell; and brother, Billy Wayne Allen.

He is survived by his sons, John Wesley Allen of Caledonia, Jerry Allen and Charles David Allen, both of Vernon; siblings, W.G. Allen and Jewel Dean Roberts, both of Sulligent; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Qwade Murff, Chris Scott, Douglas Allen, Tony Allen, Rick Roberts and Steve Allen.
