COLUMBUS — Joe Lee “Junior” Murray Jr., 70, died Feb. 22, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Christian Hill M.B. Church in Brooksville, with Timothy Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Murray was born Feb. 3, 1956, in Brooksville, to the late Joe Lee Murry Sr. and Dorothy Hubbard. He was a self-employed mechanic and was a member of A Prepared Table Ministries.

He is survived by his children, Joe Shields, Marcus Shields and A. Panesha Shields, all of Columbus, and Brandon Shields of Richmond, Texas; siblings, Lillie Brown of Kitchener, Canada, Josie Murry and Annie Buckhalter, both of Columbus, Dorothy Murry and Sanda Saxton, both of Toronto, Ohio, and Johnny B. Murray of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Timothy Washington, Coderick Hood, La’Shantis Wells, Datrick Davis, Ka’Shantis Wells and Charlie Buckhalter.
