Joe Brazeale

Joe Roscoe Brazeale, born July 25, 1948, passed away December 25, 2025, surrounded by love. He was a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend, known for his hard work, strong faith, and the steady way he showed up for the people he loved.
Joe proudly served in the United States Navy. After his service, he became a master electrician, earning an impressive 17 master electrician licenses in 17 states during his career. He retired from Black & Veatch, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic.
Papaw was a Baptist who lived by strong values and quiet faith. He was dependable, wise, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved Harley- Davidson motorcycles, enjoyed the freedom of the open road, and was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nelda Thompson Brazeale; his son, Chad Brazeale, and daughter-in- love, Jodi Brazeale; his granddaughter, Laila Brazeale (Hayden Langford); his mother-in-law, Louise White Thompson; brothers, James Smith (Judy) and Ricky Knight (Kathy); sister, Sharon Jones; brothers-in- law Ed Thompson, Homer Thompson, and Buddy Thompson (Susan); sisters-in-law, Linda Blankenship and Pat Jackson (Dan); along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Papaw was preceded in death by his precious niece, Charlsey Collins; his in-laws, Gorden and Louise Thompson; his daddy and mama, David and Ida Brazeale; his mother, Martha Brown and stepfather, Jimmy Brown; his brother, Jimmy Knight; and his sister, Carol Skains.
Graveside service will be held Sunday, December 28, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery, 323 New Hope Church Road, Starkville, MS 39759, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Skelton Personal Care Home, 238 Spring Valley Road, Mathiston, MS 39752.
The family extends special thanks to the ladies at Skelton Personal Care Home, his sweet nurse Abby Johnson, Ashley Lewis with Gentiva Hospice, and Dr. Steve Brandon for the love, care, and kindness they showed Papaw.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Joel Barksdale, Joey Brackin, Jerry Eckhart, Zack Massey, and Russ Palmer.
Papaw will be deeply missed and forever loved— especially by his Laila Bear—and remembered by all who knew him.
