COLUMBUS — Jesus “Jeezy” DeWayne Hughes, 44, died Oct. 5, 2025. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Union M.B. Church, with the Rev. Christopher McSwain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Hughes was born June 9, 1981, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Lucy McKinstry Hughes, and the late Johnnie Burnett. He was a graduate of Aliceville High School and was formerly employed as a forklift driver for SMP. 

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Hughes; children, Christa Clements, Zybrea Hughes, Daylan Highes, Corrye Jordan and Twaino Moss Jr.; siblings, Dwight L. McKinstry, Rosalie Lashon Wilson, Lucy H. Boone, Angela Moore, all of Tuscaloosa,Rex B. Little, Johnny W. Hughes, Bruce Bunett Hughes, all of Columbus, John Hughes and Katrina Knox, both of Aliceville, Alabama; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jason Brown, Dariun Hood, Jeremy Travis, Caesar Jethrow and Matayo Kincaid.
