SHELBY, N.C. — James Everett Winn, 86, died May 24, 2026, at Atrium Health in Shelby. 

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Lakeside Church of God in Denver, North Carolina. Benson Funeral and Cremation Service of Mt. Holly, North Carolina is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Winn was born on November 6, 1940, in Lowndes County, to the late James and Margie Anderson Winn. He was formally employed as a truck driver and a member of Lakeside Church of God. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Harrison Winn. 

He is survived by his wife, Martha Grizzle Winn; children, Gary Winn, Brent Cummings, Joshua Winn and Rachel Winn; sister, Mary Winn Hays; and six grandchildren.
