GORDO, Ala. — James Elton Sullivan, 88, died May 23, 2010, at Sansing Country Home. Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gordo First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Donly Ray and Bill Weems officiating. Burial will follow in Gordo City Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at the Skelton Funeral Home of Reform. Mr. Sullivan was born Sept. 24, 1921, Tuscaloosa County, Ala., to the late Thomas Alexander Sullivan and Willie Hawkins Fendley Sullivan. He was a member of Gordo First United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Southern Natural Gas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II in the South Pacific and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Sullivan Junkin; brother, William Dafford Sullivan; and sister, Lottie Bridges. He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Estes Sullivan, of Gordo; son, Jimmy Sullivan, of Gordo; sister, Ruby Sullivan, of Tuscaloosa; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Johnny Mansell, Roddy Sanders, Mark Comerford, Sammy Sanders, Fred Johnson, Rocky Montgomery, Torrey Johnson and Duane Mitchell. Memorials may be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
