NOXUBEE COUNTY — James Earl Sanders, 82, died May 16, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at New Zion Baptist Church, with Montreal Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sanders was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Noxubee County, to the late James E. Sanders and Gertrude Sanders. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Gates, Earnest Sanders and Albert Sanders.

He is survived by his children, Toiya Higgins of Nebraska, Lashundra Casha Brooks of Texas, Cheryle Harper and James Edward Brown, both of Tennessee, and Andrew Gavin of Macon; siblings, Josie M. Coleman of Macon and Cleveland Sanders of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
