James Meady

COLUMBUS — Dr. James Edward Meady, 68, died March 26, 2026, at Windsor Place.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Gate M.B. Church, with James A. Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Meady was born April 21, 1957, in Columbus, to the late Joe Meady and Fannie Brack Hill. He was a 1976 graduate of Caldwell High School, a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University and Mississippi State University, and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was formerly employed as an educator with the West Point School District, the Aberdeen School District, and Columbus High School. He was also formerly employed as a principal with the Okolona School District, as a manager with Captain D’s, and with the Commercial Dispatch. He was a member of Zion Gate M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John L. Meady and Mary A. Meady.
He is survived by his siblings, Robert Meady, Mary V. Williams and Janice Nottage, all of Columbus, Joe Meady Jr. of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, and Bobbie Randle of Kankakee, Illinois.
Pallbearers are Jamar Meady, Willie Stewart, Jeffery Alexander, Carl Randle Jr., Phillip Turner, Leondra Tillman and Raynal Williams.
