James Howard Mason, 75, of Columbus, MS, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025.

Family visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Sunday, Oct 12, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Melvin Mordecai officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Steens, MS. Lowndes Funeral Home will be directing.

Mr. Mason was born September 22, 1950, in Columbus, MS, to the late Harvey Bryant Mason and Ollie Frances Mason. He was a Baptist by faith. Mr. Mason loved cars. He was an automobile technician for 60 years and worked for Mason Auto Service for 35 of those.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mason is preceded in death by his son, James Brannon Mason; nephew, Darrell Kraig Driver; sisters, Myrtie Honeycutt, Frances Cooper, Leona McCrae, Martha Vaughn, Doris Petty, and Inez Harcrow, and brother, John Mason.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Debra K. Mason; daughters, Tansley Meshae’ Mason and Kindyle Lindsey Mason; siblings, Lois (Charles) Vincent, Rufus (Jane) Mason, Margaret (Leslie) Baucom, Bill (Maxine) Mason, Thelma (Steve) Strickland, and Christine (Roger) Perrigin; 7 grandchildren, Adiah Mason, Alexis Foster, Madelyn Mitchell, Rymzi Mason, Paisley Mason, Landon Beasley, and Morgan Beasley; and 2 great-grandchildren. Lainey Foster and Camryn Beasley.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Cooper, Elijah Perrigin, Douglas Harcrow, Jamie Baucom, David Mason, and Dillon Mason. Honorary Pallbearers will be Baptist Hospice, Hamilton Primary Care, Darrell Driver, Marlyn Driver, Keith Driver, Dallas Niswonger, Krystal Haynes, Melvin Mordecai, Scott Thacker, and Jeanene Heatherly.
