MACON — James Peter Gaston, 75, died Aug. 16, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with Eric Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gaston was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Macon, to the late Lucy Harris and Frank Gaston. He was a graduate of Liddell High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was formerly employed at Waukesha Foundry and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Julius Allen Sr.; siblings, Willean Drakes, Leola Paige, Julius Allen Jr. and McGregory Allen; and one grandchild.

He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Steel, Marsha Clemons, Felecia Smith and Tasha Gaston; siblings, Lugene Bailey, Frankie Maden, Mary Ann Peterson, Alice Allen, Ethel Shambley, Edward Allen and Clark Allen; eight grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Clark Allen Sr., Jonathan Peterson, T.C. Clayborn, Curtis Stewart, Tyrone Maxwell and Jamarl Stewart.
