WEST POINT — James Howard Cousins, 74, died May 31, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at New Covenant M.B. Church in Mantee with the Rev. Herbert Ivy officiating. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, at Carter’s Mortuary Service Chapel. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Cousins was born March 3, 1952, in Clay County, to the late Howard Cousins and Eula Mae Lee Cousins. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Davidson and Lee Howard Davidson; and two grandchildren.  

He is survived by his sons, Donovan Brown of Mantee, Eikeren Hill of Eupora, Joshua Hurst and Brandon Hurst, both of Pontotoc; daughters, Chasity Cousins of Mantee and Stacey Robinson of Aberdeen; brother, Prince Albert Cousins of Mantee; sisters, Era McDonald of Byram, Miami Grice of Woodland, Linda Cousins of Houston and Annie Cousins Hollings of Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
