James Clayton Chism, age 69 of Decatur, TN, passed away, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at his residence.

A native of Columbus, MS, and current resident of Decatur he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson, Sr., Lucy “L. C.” Smith Chism and was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Chism.

He was a member of the North Cleveland Baptist Church and was retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service.

Survivors are wife, Juli Chism; two sons and daughter-in-law, Chad and Angela Chism and Bryce Chism; one daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Alan Henry; siblings, Woodrow (Pat) Chism, Jr. of Columbus, MS; David (Charlotte) Chism of Appling, GA; Hazel (Ronnie) Key of Cleveland, TN; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the North Cleveland Baptist Church with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Inurnment will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
