STARKVILLE — Henretta Jones, 65, died March 2, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, at Beth-el M.B. Church, with Kendall Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Thursday at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Homes. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Homes of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Jones was born March 17, 1960,in Starkville, to the late Joe Nathan Rice Sr. and Mary Frances Hamilton Jones. She was a 1978 graduate of Starkville High School and was formerly employed as a food service worker and manager with Popeyes Chicken, Armstrong Middle School cafeteria, Maben MFG Factor and Rolling HIlls Development Center. She was a member of Beth-el M.B. Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Beverly Diane Jones, Brenda Jean Hamilton JOnes, Eddie Dean Rice Harris and Tom Matthew Rice.

She is survived by her children, Shedrick Jones, Darryl Cordell Jones and Tiesha Lee, all of Starkville; siblings, Lois Rice Baker, Vera Mae Jones, Terry Jones, Jimmy L. Rice, Joe N. Rice and Zebedee D. Rice, all of Starkville, James L. Rice of Crawford, and Jerry L. Rice of California; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
