COLUMBUS — Helen Elaine Shackelford, 80, died Oct. 5, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Buddy Abernathy officiating. Graveside services will follow at Walnut Grove. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shackelford was born March 14, 1945, in Millport, Alabama, to the late Clarence and Mary Idell Gault McGee. She was formerly employed as a secretary with McCarty Real Estate.

She is survived by her sons, Todd Shackelford of Columbus and Tim Shackelford of Cleveland, Tennessee; sisters, Imogene Williams and Diane Garrett; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Josh Garrett, Jacob Garrett, Jared Garrett, Pearce Shackelford, Ridge Shackelford and Nick Geeslin.
