COLUMBUS — Harvey Sykes, 74, died Feb. 13, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, at New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stephen Sykes officiating. Burial will follow at Brick Church Cemetery. Visitation was from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sykes was born April 16, 1951, in Columbus, to the late Harvey Sykes Sr. and Mattie Will Barry Sykes. He was formerly employed as a factory worker with ABB, formerly Baldor Electric, and was a member of Brick M.B. Church

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Sykes; and siblings, Mary Ruth, Earlene Sykes and Jessie Sykes.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Sykes; children, Timothy, Greg, Stephen, Meredith and Eureka, all of Columbus; siblings, Deloris Carr of Nashville, Tennessee, Lillian Kelly of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Johnny of Columbus; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
