COLUMBUS — The Rev. Gus Thomas, 86, died June 16, 2025, in Columbus.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church, with Demario Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Mt. Carmel C.M.E. Church. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

The Rev. Thomas was born Feb. 8, 1939, in Columbus, to the late Christopher Columbus Thomas and Carrie Jennings Thomas. He was formerly self-employed as an electrician and television repair technician and served as Pastor of Trinity Mt. Carmel, Concord Methodist and other area churches.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Terry E. Thomas and Cedric Thomas; and siblings, J. D. Thomas, Walter C. Thomas, the Rev. Carzell Thomas Sr., Eddie Thomas, Sammie Thomas, Henry Lee Thomas, Mildred Cohen, Mary Poindexter and Jimmie Thomas.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Thomas, Anita Thomas, Lori Williams, Gus Timothy Thomas, Eric Thomas, Andy Thomas, Stephen Thomas and Courtney Thomas; siblings, William Ben Thomas and Albert Thomas; and a host of grandchildren.
