Gregory Virgil Sr.

COLUMBUS — Gregory L. Virgil Sr., 58, died Nov. 30, 2025, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at 15th Street Church of God in Christ, with Terry Weems officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Maranatha Faith Center. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Virgil was born Aug. 23, 1967, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Lewis T. Virgil and Ida M. Virgil. He was a 1985 graduate of Caldwell High School and attended Mississippi State University. He was formerly employed with Tronox and the founder of Praise Inc. 1993. He was a member of Maranatha Faith Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William D. Virgil.
He is survived by his wife, Getina Lashae Virgil of Columbus; son, Gregory Virgil II of Columbus; siblings, Sharon Virgil Wilson of Columbus, Lewis T. Virgil Jr. of Jackson, and Michael C. Virgil of Starkville; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Quincy Butts, Demarco Calmes, Fred Jamison, Stanley Jones Jr., Michael Larry, Russell Tate Sr., Lewis Wilson and William Dewayne Virgil Jr.
