COLUMBUS — Gladys “Lil Sister” Prowell Walker, 77, died Dec. 17, 2025, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Carter’s Funeral Services Chapel, with Carolyn Hulen officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Walker was born Jan. 25, 1948, in Columbus, to the late Charlie Prowell Sr. and Gladys Perkins Prowell. She was formerly employed as a cook at Mississippi University for Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie Ann Walker; and siblings, Billy, Jimmy, Leon, Charlie, Robert “Buttercup”, George “Ice Cube” Prowell, Essie Mary Prowell, Martha Prowell and Mary “Bay Kay” Hill.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Taylor, Dewayne D. Walker, Racquel McBride, Brandy A. Walker and Amanda “Tootie” Walker, all of Columbus; siblings, Norman Prowell of Orlando, Florida, Lucy Casey and Emma Stewart, both of Grand Prairie, Texas; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
