George Turner Sr.

COLUMBUS — George Turner Sr., 92, died Sept. 26, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Shiloh Full Gospel M.B. Church, with the Rev. Leonardo Dismuke officiating. Burial will follow at St. James M.B. Church Cemetery in Crawford. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turner was born July 20, 1933, in Crawford, to the late Tom Turner and Lucy Turner. He was formerly employed as a technician at Baldor Electric and was a member of St. James M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Willie George Turner, Sylverster Turner, Leonard Bernard Turner and Earnestine Turner; and siblings, Katie Dell Foster, Robert Wilkins Sr., Tommy Turner, Willie Turner, Jerry Turner, Silas Turner, James Turner, Sam Turner, John Henry Turner, Mary Ella Turner and T.C. Turner.
He is survived by his children, Marie Smith of Clewiston, Florida, John Henry Shields of Chicago, Illinois, George Turner Jr., David Turner, both of Columbus, Larrie Turner of Tupelo and Ethel Turner-Morris of Phoenix, Arizona, brother, Isaac Turner Sr.; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
