WEST POINT — George S. Shaffer, 85, died March 21, 2026, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Lake Grove M.B. Church in Prairie, with the Rev. Price Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel. Carter’s Motuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shaffer was born Feb. 9, 1941, in West Point, to the late Hobie Shaffer and Queen Ester Shaffer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by her wife, Flossie Mae Shaffer; children, George Shaffer Jr. and Cynthia Gray; and brothers, Johnnie Mac Shaffer and James Eddie Shaffer.

He is survived by his children, Freddie Shaffer and Linda Shaffer, both of Prairie, Shannon Henderson and Shamica Weddle, both of Rock Island, Illinois; sister, Isabella Shaffer; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
