SHUQUALAK — Gayle Persons, 82, died Jan. 11, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Cockrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinetucky Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Persons was born July 25, 1943, in Ellison Ridge Community, to the lateRobert Edward and Annie Beth Fuller Hisaw. She was a graduate of Nanih Waiya Attendance Center. She  was formerly employed at Noxubee General Hospital, at TWL in Macon, as a bus driver for Central Academy and at BankFirst. She was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Gutierrez, Joy Ming, Fant Hisaw, Bert Hisaw, Berlin Hisaw, Embree Hisaw and Marion Hisaw. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Persons of Shuqualak.
