Gail Lynne Hester Gilmore, 70 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – G.T., Columbus, MS. Visitation for Mrs. Gilmore was Monday, January 2, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services were Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Brown, officiating and Bro. Roy Hawkins assisting. Interment was in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, directing. Mrs. Gilmore was born September 28, 1941 in Gilbertsville, KY to the late Gay Arthur and Helen Mary Brown Hester. Mrs. Gilmore was a resident of Columbus, MS since 1959 having moved from South Fulton, TN. She retired in 2001 from the Columbus Police Department as an identification clerk with over 36 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, MS, and The Homemaker’s Sunday School Class. She enjoyed reading, cooking and watching T.V. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilmore is preceded in death by her husband, Leland B. Gilmore, Sr, Brother – Mike Hester and Sister – Elizabeth Bowens. Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her step-children – Steve (Becky) Gilmore, Orlando, FL, Donna (Jim) Stangle, Kissimmee, FL, Rosemary Ann McCrickard, Atlanta, GA, Sandra Bayman, Kennesaw, GA and Leland B. (Melissa) Gilmore, Jr., Columbus, MS, Sisters – Shirley Smith, Columbus, MS, Nancy (Kenny) Crenshaw, Caledonia, MS, Brothers – Hardy (Patsy) Hester, Columbus, MS, Arthur (Martha Ann) Hester, Cottondale, AL, David L. Hester, Caledonia, MS, 14 Step-grandchildren, 2 Step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Chad Burns, David Hester, II, Bryan Hester, Steven Hester, Michael Crenshaw, and Jason McCreary. Honorary Pallbearers were Tim Spencer, Tim Honnoll, Ben Gilmore, Aaron Imeson, Jordan Cockerham, Brian Kelly, Lesa Jenkins, Chuck Hester and Members of the Homemakers Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church, Nurses and Staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle Intensive Care Unit.
