COLUMBUS — Bishop Freddie B. Edwards Sr. 82, died Aug. 16, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Shiloh Full Gospel M.B. Church, with Robert Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 1-6 p.m. Friday at the church. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Bishop Edwards was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Columbus, to the late Jimmie Lee and Lucile Edwards. He attended Motley Elementary and High School, Penn Foster College, and M & I College. He was formerly employed with Ceco Engineering and was a member of Brick M.B. Church. He served as pastor of Shiloh Full Gospel M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Edwards; and brothers, Charles Edwards Sr., Willie Tate and Johnny Edwards Sr.
He is survived by his children, Clarisca Carr and Freddie Edwards Jr; siblings, Geraldine Brown, Carol Williams, Roger Edwards, Cynthia Edwards, Johnnie Edwards, Charles Edwards, Willie Tate and Lucile Edwards; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Frankie Buckley, Dewayne Buckley, Jovan Buckley, Bobby Jones, Aldemar Carter Sr., Montrez Williams, Leonard Mohammed, Marlen Jones and Jeremy Harris.
