Fannie Stephenson

COLUMBUS — Fannie Stephenson, 88, died Feb. 5, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Seventh Street Centre. Burial will follow at New Hope/Armstrong Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Thursday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stephenson was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Columbus, to the late Tommie Ferguson and Julia Thomas Ferguson. She was formerly employed as a baker and cook with the Columbus Municipal School District.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Ramon Lavell and James Calvin; and siblings, James T. Ferguson, Lloyd Ferguson, Pearlie Williams, Bertha Williams, Tommie Ferguson Jr., Julia Hudson, Celia Moore, Charlie Ferguson, Jo Lee Ferguson and Earline Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Stephenson; children, Bernice Stephenson Lewis, HIlda Stephenson Eddins, Bobby Stephenson, Gwen Stephenson and Dwight Stephenson, all of Columbus, Willie Earl Stephenson and Obbie Stephenson Tate, both of Ethelsville, Alabama, Barbara Stephenson Reives of Collierville, Tennessee, Calandra Stephenson Lake of Cypress, Texas, and Marlon Stephenson of San Antonio; brother, Willie B. Ferguson; and 16 grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Byron Lewis, Marco Lewis, Desmond Lewis, Vershun Eddins, Marcus Stephenson, Andres Stephenson, Matthew Stephenson, Courtland Taylor, Nicholas Lake and Zaine Craig.
