BROOKSVILLE — Emmit Lucas, 80, died June 7, 2026, at Louisville Healthcare. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Fairview M.B. Church, with Bobby L. McCarter officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Lucas was born on February 10, 1946, in Brooksville, to the late Robert and Millie Lucas. He was formally employed at the brickyard and was a member of Prairie Grove M.B. Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; and three brothers. 

He is survived by his children, Teresa Dora of Brooksville, Julida Hairston of Crawford, Timmie Jefferson of Corinth, Darius Halbert of Starkville, Rico Jefferson of Hattiesburg, Tony Johnson of Kankakee, Illinois and Ytansa Barksdale; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
