COLUMBUS — Emitra Ann “MeJan” Humphreis, 50, died Feb. 2, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, at Anderson Grove M.B. Church, with Eric Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Matthews M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Humphries was born Sept. 10, 1975, in Columbus, to the late Willie Lee Scott Jr. and Clara Jean Calmes Rice. She was a 1993 graduate of West Lowndes High School and was formerly employed with Carl Hogan Toyota, Carlock Toyota, American Power Source and Mississippi Title Loan. She was a member of New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Abril Humphries of Houston, Texas, and Kristopher Humphries of Columbus; siblings, Stephanie Scott, Jerome Humphries, Kevin Tate, Deforrest Jackson, Jamar Rice and Willie Scott III; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers are William Nance, Khiry Erby, Kelvin Paiyne, Terrell Jennings, Timothy Griffin, Phillip Morris and Jovan Buckley.
