BROOKSVILLE — Elvis Shields, 49, died Feb. 22, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bessie Mae Cotton officiating. Burial will follow at Turner-Hairston Cemetery. Visitation will be today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s of Macon. Mr. Shields was born in Lowndes County on May 2, 1968, to Willie James Shields and the late Bessie Harris Shields. He was a 1988 graduate of Motley High School and a member of Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dean and Tony Shields. In addition to his father, he is survived by his Fiancée, Latita Dora of Brooksville; children, Markese Costict of Norfolk, Virginia, Evan Taylor of Macon, Evonie, Everett, Brittany, Deiandra, Elvenlen Shields and Quindarius Dora, all of Brooksville; siblings, Bessie Mae Cotton, Robbie Shields, Annette Shields, all of Ocala, Florida, Shelia Stevenson of Columbus, Willie Shields of Columbus, Timmie Shields of Starkville, Curtis Shields of Crawford, and Deforest Shields of Cleveland, Tennessee; and five grandchildren.
