NOXUBEE COUNTY — Earnestine Peterson, 78, died Feb. 8, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Tabernacle M.B. Church in Macon, with Alexander Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Toliver Chapel M. B. Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peterson was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Noxubee County, to the late Earnest Sanders and Amanda Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Peterson; and siblings, George Wiley Sanders, Roy Lee Sanders, Willie Lucus Sanders, Eddie Dean Sanders and Mary Lee Sanders.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Jones of Macon, Tyrone Sanders of Brooksville, and William Sanders Sr. of West Point; siblings, Mollie Ivy, Betty Jefferson, Earnest Sanders, John Sanders, Maxie Sanders and Fred Earl Sanders, all of West Point; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jimmie Neal Jr., Jarvis Bardley, Demond Bailey, James Smith, Aerie Smith and Dewitt Smith.
