LEXINGTON — Donald W. Boatwright, 81, died Feb. 14, 2011. Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Starkville with Dr. Danny Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 9:30-11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Mr. Boatwright was born Dec. 6, 1929, to the late Jesse Walton Boatwright and Myrtle Tyler Boatwright in Lexington. He was a Lexington High School and Holmes Junior College graduate. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mississippi State University. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an MSU assistant research professor in the Aerospace Department and was named assistant professor emeritus of aerospace engineering upon retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was president of the Starkville Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Green Boatwright; son, David Walton Boatwright of Columbus, Ind.; and daughter, Donna Boatwright Rupp of Starkville; and four grandchildren.
