SULLIGENT, Ala. — Deborah Jane Blaylock McMurrey, 70, died Nov. 24, 2025, at her residence. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Nov. 28, at People’s Tabernacle Church. Burial followed at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation was two hours prior to services at the church. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. McMurrey was born June 23, 1955, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late Leroy Hilbert Blaylock and Martha Lou Tucker Blaylock. She was a graduate of Sulligent High  School and Mississippi University for Women. She attended Brewer State Junior College and the University of Montevallo. She was formerly employed teaching science and math. She was a member of People’s Tabernacle Church. 

She is survived by her husband, Jerry McMurrey; son, Nathan McMurrey of Sulligent; daughter, Jamie Tisdaale of Sulligent; brothers, Stanley Blaylock of Amory, Steve Blaylock of Columbus and Philip Blaylock of Sulligent; sisters, Marlene Weeks of Sulligent and Darlene Fesperman of Samantha, Alabama; and two grandchildren.
