NOXUBEE COUNTY — David “Jeff” Lockett, 74, died April 20, 2026, at Noxubee General Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Ivy Grove M.B. Church in Shuqualak, with Ronald Anthony officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters U.M. Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lockett was born Oct. 16, 1951, in Noxubee County, to the late Add Jeff Lockett and Callie C. Lockett. He was formerly employed with Bryan Foods and was a member of St. Peters U.M. Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James F. Lockett and Albert L. Lockett.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lockett of Shuqualak; children, Reginald Lewis of Macon, Rodney Lockett of Ridgeland, Trent Lockett and David Jeff Lockett Jr., both of Shuqualak; siblings, Jeanette Browning, Patricia Shamily, Katherine Naylor, Henry Lockett, Charles Lockett and Lawrence Lockett, all of St. Louis, Missouri, Daisy Lockett of Elgin, Illinois, Mamie Jones and Trudy Lockett, both of Shuqualak; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Derrick Thompkins, Paras Griffin, Darvin Griffin, Travis Griffin, Herbert Lewis and Ronnie Higginbotham.
