DETROIT, Ala. — Darryl Thompson, 71, died May 2, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. 

Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, at Otts Funeral Home, with Steve Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Detroit Carter Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent, Alabama, was in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Amory, to the late Lecil Thompson and Opal Parker Thompson. He was a graduate of Sulligent High School and was formerly employed as a truck driver for Lamb Motors. He was a member of Unity Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phil Thompson. 

He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Bomba of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Jala Echols of Madison, Alabama; brother, Larry Thompson of Detroit; sister, Sharron Williams of Detroit; and five grandchildren.
