CLAY COUNTY — Cora Wright Dendy, 80, died July 11, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, at Pine Bluff Baptist Church, with Lowell Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Calvert Funeral Home. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dendy was born April 24, 1945, in Clay County, to the late Charles Carey and Wilma Laurene Johnson Wright. She was a graduate of Clay High School and was formerly employed as a cake decorator. She was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Dendy; and sister, Charlsie Hulon Wright.

She is survived by her daughter, Christi Carter of Starkville; sisters, Doni Wright Lucius of Pine Bluff and Judy Gilliland of West Point; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Cole Carter, Steve Carter, Carl Middleton, Joseph Reeves, Zack Stephenson, Carver Middleton and Jason Gilliland.
