COLUMBUS — Charlie B. Evans Jr., 73, died Aug. 28, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Southside M.B. Church, with Craig Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Evans was born March 1, 1952, in Crawford, to the late Charlie B. Evans Sr. and Lillie dell Jones. He was formerly employed at Omnova Solutions and Baldor and was a member of Abundant Life Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Bernard Jones. 

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Shields Evans of Columbus; children, Kenneth Evans of Birmingham, Alabama, Justin Evans of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Quiveta Shields, Viar Shields, both of Columbus and Nicole Fenton of New York, New York; siblings, Faye Coleman of Birmingham and Johnny Evans of Crawford; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
