STARKVILLE — Charles Edward Wicks, 68, died April 19, 2025, at his residence. 

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at New Zion M.B. Church, with the Rev. John Wicks Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Wicks Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Wicks was born Oct. 17, 2956, in Lowndes County, to the late Ezell Wicks and Modess Wicks. He was a graduate of B.L. Moor and Mississippi State University. He was formerly employed as a claim specialist at Social Security, at United Technologies and MSU. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby Wicks Sr., Ezell Wicks Jr., Hubert Wicks and James Wicks. 

He is survived by his daughter, Latonya Michelle Williams; siblings, George M. Wicks, Livian J. Wicks-Stovall and Sharon G. Murray; and one grandchild. 

Pallbearers will be Willie J. Murray Jr., Rev. Thomas D. Wicks, Adolph Phillips, Herman Phillips, Elanthus M. Wicks and Willie J. Murray III.
