VERNON, Ala. — Cecelia Jane Burnett, 88, died Feb. 12, 2026, at her residence. 

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church of Vernon, with Cylde Stevens and Brandon Phillips officiating. Burial followed at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church. Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Burnett was born June 11, 1937, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Alfred and Nell Holley. She was a graduate of Lamar County High School and attended Auburn University. She was formerly employed as a secretary to the superintendents of Lamar County Board of Education. She was a member of Vernon First Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her sons, Anthony Burnett and Joseph Burnett, both of Vernon; and two grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Clanton DuBose, Phillip Glasgow, Paul Wheeler, Edwin Collins, Terry Russell, Henry Smith, Sam Rogers and Danny Hollis.
