SULLIGENT, Ala. — Catherine Smith Woods, 78, died Dec. 31, 2025, at her residence. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday,  at Otts Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Woods was born May 30, 1947, in Vernon, Alabama, to the late Cola Smith and Rosie Lee Owens Smith. She was a graduate of Todd High School and was formerly employed at McCoy Manufacturing, Reltoc and as a school bus driver with Head Start. She was a member of Rising Star M.B. Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Smith; and one grandchild. 

She is survived by her husband, Mack T. Woods; daughter, Teresa Cobb of Fayette, Alabama, and Cynthia Woods of Sulligent; step-son, Mack Woods Jr. of Los Angeles, California; sister, Betty Horton of Vernon;  five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
