MACON — Carrie Mae Gordon, 88, died Nov. 19, 2025, at her residence. 

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, at St. Paul Baptist Church, with Joe N. Rice Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Friday, at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Gordon was born April 23, 1937, in Macon, to the late Annie Jane Dooley and Willie Petty. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Gordon Sr.; children, Mary Ann, Charles Edward and Shirley Ann; siblings, Janie Mae Finley, Lannie Kate Dooley, Heard Dooley Jr., Jeannette Dooley and Willie Petty Jr. 

She is survived by her children, Catherine Gordon, Christine Duck, Perry Gordon, Samuel Gordon Jr., all of Macon, Wade Gordon, Vanessa Mason, Evelyn Lane, all of Columbus; siblings, Annie Mae Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia, Lucille Hall Smith of Stuart, Florida, Sarah Cotton of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Mae Kate Johnson, Geraldine Rozier, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sarah Petty, Angel Pettery, and Elander Petty, all of Bessemer, Alabama; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Tim Ivy, Mac Williams, James Brandy, Nate Hughes, Jamarcus “Red” McCoy and Danny Smith.
