COLUMBUS —  Carol Edwards, 69, died May 20, 2026, at her residence. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, at Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church with Bennie Coleman officiating. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Ms. Edwards was born November 10, 1956, in Crawford, to the late Will Whelton and Laura Fifter. She attended Noxubee County High School, MUW and Mississippi State University and was formally employed at United Technologies. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Shelton and Eugene Shelton. 

She is survived by her children,Tamika Wynn of Woodbridge, Virginia, Earnest Edwards Jr. of Moss Point, Nicholas Edwards of Columbus and Elliot Edwards of Nashville, Tennessee; brothers, Will Shelton of Artesia, Kenneth Shelton and Richard Shelton, both of Brooksville; and five grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Eddie Bluitt, Shaun Lowery, Delvin Robb, Rico Salter, Trenell Scales and Kenneth Stallings.
