WEST POINT — Buelah S. Lathon, 102, died Oct. 5, 2025, at Dugan Memorial Nursing Home. 

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, at West Point Civic Center, with Willie B. Lairy officiating. Burial will follow at Pheba Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. at St. Paul M.B. Church. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Lathon was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Clay County, to the late Ivory Shelton and Cora Shelton. She was self-employed. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie J. Lathon; son, William Lathon; brother, Avory Lee Shelton; and sisters, Effie Wesley and Gertrude Belk. 

She is survived by his son, Willie B. Lairy; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
