COLUMBUS — Billy Wayne James, 60, died March 31, 2026, in Columbus.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Concord Independent Methodist Church, with Edward Rice officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from noon-5 p.m. Friday at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James was born Jan. 31, 1966, in Columbus, to the late Annie Florence People. He was formerly employed as a lead man with the Columbus Air Force Base.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lynda Faye James, Joseph Peoples, Jimmy Peoples and Larry William Peoples.

He is survived by his wives, Mary James of Columbus and Loretta Walker; children, Shiann Dancer, Sengeona James, Zacosha Smith, Michelle James and Titus James; siblings, Betty Sharp, Mary Mullins, Annie Leonard, Kenny Ray Peoples and Titus Peoples; and a host of grandchildren.
